Christmas is a happy time for most of us, but with one in three children in our region living below the breadline, Christmas can also be very sad and stressful.
The Teesside Charity has for a number of years purchased gifts (to the value of £10,000) for underprivileged children in our area, but has gone one step further this year with The Teesside Charity Christmas Toy Appeal ‘to help ensure that no child in Teesside wakes up on Christmas Day without a gift’
“We heard about the toy appeal at the charity ball back in October, and of course we wanted to help” said Rachel McCulloch associate director
as patrons for the charity we do whatever we can to help throughout the year – including our team offering their time for volunteering, taking part in the walk in to the light and the great north run”
Organised by Rachel (pictured left) and client support manager, Karen Lofts (pictured right), the team came together to donate brand new toys, and over £500 in cash!
Some of the money went towards buying more toys for the appeal (filling the world’s biggest cardboard box!) and with the remainder (of the money) we supported another very worthy charity – the Cause Foundation and their Christmas hamper campaign.
Every year we are allocated a family to support, and although the exact details remain anonymous, we are given the family dynamics. This year it was a family of 6: mum and dad with 3 boys aged 8, 7 and 6 and a little girl of 3 years.
Huge thanks to our amazing team for their donations this Christmas, and for their support of worthy causes throughout year.
